About Me

A little bit about me…

I am a wife and mother.  I have two kids that are both in preschool.  I have chosen to stay at home with them to raise them until they are school age.  I am thankful that I can spend so much time with my kids while they are young and need guidance.  I am trying to improve my parenting skills constantly, as I feel inadequate most of the time.

When the kids are both in school, I might return to work in my field which is music.  Right now, I teach my son and a neighbor girl.  Upon graduating from college, I taught middle school choir for a year, worked as a database administrator for a year, and taught piano at a piano studio for two years.

Since about the seventh grade, I have been writing music.  Composition is my chosen profession, but it has been hard trying to get published.  I focused solely on composing/getting published for six months before realizing my need for a piano (I just had a keyboard), so I got the piano studio job to pay for the piano.  Soon after buying the piano, we were trying to get pregnant, and right now my kids are my main job.  In 2008, I joined a group of academics, lyricists, and musicians who are writing new hymn settings for all of the Psalms.  This has been such a joy for me.  My main style of writing is for choral music and/or solo vocal music.  If I figure out how to do it, I might include some of my music on this website.

The most important thing about me is that I belong to Jesus Christ.  I hope to honor and glorify Him in everything I do and say.  It’s a constant struggle, but worth it!
